News Flash!

I received a phone call tonight from Carole ( the woman who is helping us book the tickets). She has confirmed our tickets, and the ticket price is actually less expensive than she originally quoted. They are 33.75. I will try to find out which section we will be sitting in before class tomorrow. :)

Phantom again??

Hello!! Yesterday you asked me to check again into the possibility of going to see" Phantom of the Opera" on Broadway. The ticket office said that there is a very good possibility that we could get tickets For Thursday, December 7th for the evening show. ( I will know tomorrow for sure) The price is 43.75 per ticket and we have reserved ten tickets at the student rate. The regular rate is 71.00. If you are interested, let me know and bring your money to class tomorrow. If anybody wants to invite a friend to join us, we have a few extra tickets but I will need their money tomorrow as well. Post a comment if you have any questions.

Also, I have found some great links for help on writing a research paper, a research report and a term paper.. I've put the links on the side bar... Let me know what you think!
Ciao, Gail

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

We celebrated Thanksgiving early this year with wonderful friends from school. I believe it was the happiest Thankgiving I have ever had. Our guests were so happy and helpful. They were so understanding too, especially when the oven caught on fire ( I am serious) :) and as a result, they had to wait a bit longer for dinner to be ready. In the end, everything was fine and it was a very joyous occasion. Matthew was so happy to meet everyone too...now he knows why I love my work so much!
Thank you very much for coming!

I wish I would have been able to invite the students in my other class too but we didn't have enough plates or chairs... maybe we can do something another time???

Broadway Show???

Hey there! How was your weekend? Great I hope! Mine was fantastic, I'll post some photos later today...

Are you still interested in a broadway show? I tried to get tickets to a few different shows, but it is difficult because our group is small. For example, I can get tickets for the Lion King on December 3rd but we need a group of 15, and the tickets are full price... 51.25 in the top section. The shows that were available for student discounts were Hairspray, Rent, Avenue Q, and Phantom.

I can get us tickets for "Phantom of the Opera" for 43.75 per person for the night of November 30th. (It is a Thursday evening performance) I can also try to get us a group meal deal at the Hard Rock Cafe??? What do you think?

Please post a comment if you are interested and I can make the arrangements. Bring your money to class if you want to join us. I have to purchase the tickets this week.

Ciao!

Hello everyone! I hope you are enjoying this beautiful weather we have been having.

In this post I wouild like to draw you attention to the side bar where I added a link to "Grammar Girl's Quick and Dirty Tips for Better Writing" It is a fun blog with great links to podcasts, in which she explains a specific grammar point. You can read it too. (It is your choice) You can also choose to subscribe to "Grammar Girl" on i-tunes to have her new podcasts sent to you free of charge. It is an alternative way of reviewing and learning, and it is good for listening comprehension too! Please have a look at the site and let me know if you think it is worthwhile.

Also, I have added another "Get it Write" tip on the links below. I will add a new one each week. You can also subscribe to have this company e-mail you a new tip each month, free of charge.

Do you have any good resource sites to recommend? If so, I can add them to our "Great Sites!" link.

Have a great one!
Gail

Hi! I hope everyone is having a great weekend. Mine has been great, despite the weather yesterday. Wasn't that a magnificent storm? One of the trees outside our home came crashing down; what an eerie noise! Luckily it didn't hit the house. :)

Yesterday was a good day. We needed to work on winterizing our home...putting storm windows in and covering some of the larger ones with a seal to help keep the cold out. We went to see "The Departed" last night... it was violent but still very well done. I think Jack Nicolson will probably win an award for his performance. To be honest, I don't normally go for violent films, but I usually enjoy Martin Scorsese's films and this one was no exception. Of course I ate a ton of popcorn! Then (sigh) I lost at scrabble.

Today my hubby and I went to visit Planting Fields Arboretum State Historic Park in Oyster Bay. It was so beautiful! It is an old estate that was donated by the Coe Family to the Citizens of New York in the 1950's. It has a beautiful Tudor Mansion and about 410 acres of land. Some of the land is developed with stables, greenhouses and many other buildings with huge lawns and gardens, but much of it is forested with beautiful walking paths throughout. We hiked for over an hour and never met another person. What a relaxing way to spend a morning.

Just a nice family hike in Maine...

I thought I'd share some of my happy memories through my photos. This one is from last summer at "Bald Mountain" in Maine. It is such a beautiful part of the States and we try to go there every summer if we can. I think that part of its appeal for me might be because it is similar to where I grew up, in the province of New Brunswick Canada.
Welcome!
This is going to be such an exciting way for us to communicate, learn about technology, and (of course) practice writing in English. :) I am really looking forward to seeing all your sites and reading your posts.

Feel free to pass our links on to friends and family and encourage them to comment too.
